Seblod – Custom Content and Search Types

This is my first attempt at a screencast. This is what I have learned about how to use Seblod over the past few days of playing with it.

The video will take you through how to create a custom content type with a few different fields, and then create a search based on your content type. This should help you get on your feet with Seblod without all the trial and error!

If you have any questions or need anything else explained, please don’t hesitate to ask. :)

Thanks for this webcast – it has really helped.

I am a complete noob with Seblod but can see its power.

Seblod like many of the CCK’s for joomla lack decent documentation and /or web training. Cant blame the Seblod team they are very busy so its great somebody is showing the way

Please keep up the greeat work.

      Hi Dave,

Thanks :) – I’ll hopefully be doing a few more as I learn more stuff. It’s quite time consuming to learn from scratch so I’m happy to pass on anything I learn. Later this week I’ll post about using the “live id” fields and creating a comment system.

you can see everything I make at http://www.testing.loudboxmedia.com

    Hi, James!
I saw your work and understand that you master SEBLOD! So I want to ask you for help. I have created a post http://www.seblod.com/network/forum/105-General-Discussions/25228-Creating-a-restaurant-guide.html but nobody answers more then 2 days.
If you are interested then I would like to give you a login and password from the admin panel from that pilot sites (see links in the last post).
    Thanks.

    James,

Thank you for taking the time to publish this video. Even being a reasonably experienced Joomla user, this would have taken me a looong time to figure out. I hope you publish more.

    Regards, Jim

  4. Hello James,
First of all, very nice screencast. I’ve been viewing multiple times all SEBLOD videos available at their channel, as well as searching for documentation about advanced SEBLOD use. Unfortunately, I still haven’t found what I need. I was hoping you could provide pointers on how to develop a custom form as a package, almost developing it from scratch, or how you would go about doing what I need. It’s a member’s association form, with a special Post Code webservice (simple Javascript/AJAX already available in PHP, but needs to be added to the member’s address field). The address field would be a plugin in itself, as it’s a repeatable item in the form. I managed to add the form, but not the webservice. Can you help me?

      Hi Ramon,

Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately I don’t have any experience with what you are trying to do. However, you might find the “# core – 42″ field might help you.

    Hi James

Thank you so much for providing this tutorial. However, I am trying it on my local server using template JA lime:
    – It displays the drop down search/submit form
    – It loads all the Speaker profiles in a list

But when I try to select ‘Brisbane’ or some value from the drop down and hit Submit, it does not return any items. I am not sure what is going on? Can you please help me as this is really confusing me as to what could be wrong! Your help is much appreciated.

    Regards
    Usman

      Hi Usman,

Make sure that your “location” field is included in your content type in both the “administrator” and “content” tabs.

your location field also needs to be in your search type under “list” or “item” depending which layout you are using.

      Hope this helps.

    Hi James

Thanks for your prompt reply. I have also tried putting a list type, however, it yet does not generate any results??!! Could it be the template, or is there a way to debug this issue??
